Are you ready for a Guest?
Has it ever happened that you are having guests sleep over but you do not really know how to prepare for it or how to design your spare room to accommodate them? As gracious hosts we endeavor to make them feel welcome and comfortable just like they would be in their own home. Most of the time however, since we are running around and seeing to last minute details our guests end up feeling awkward and that they are a burden to us. So how do we make them feel special and appreciated instead of feeling ill at ease? The following are suggestions to make their stay a memorable one:
• Give them space- If they will be staying for more than a day clear out a drawer or closet space in their assigned room for them to use during their stay. After all who would want to live out of a suitcase even for just a couple of days? This will make them feel more welcome and can take comfort in the fact that we do have room to accommodate them.
• If possible situate a coffee table and some chairs in the spare room. Why would you do this when you have a perfectly good kitchen they can have coffee in? People need their own space and even as guests and they are having coffee or a snack they might want some privacy.
• Clear the room they will be staying in of photo frames of your family. Trust me they know that they are in your house and are possibly quite uncomfortable because they feel they may be imposing themselves, being reminded of the fact they are in someone else’s house constantly via pictures will not help them feel more relaxed.
• If the room your guests are using does not have a bathroom design a toiletry caddy or kit for them. In it could be some soap, shampoo and conditioner just like in hotels. One can also assign a set of towels for them to use during their stay. This will make them feel less like they are intruding in your home and because they have their own things even if it is temporary. If the room has its own bathroom then you can leave the tray and towels there.
• Have needed telephone numbers handy. Since it would be improbable that you will always be with your guests when they are in your house leave them a list of numbers they might need. Do include not only where they can reach you but also handy numbers like taxi companies and food delivery service.

Sensible Coffee Table Choices
In home-décor every piece in a room has to come together harmoniously otherwise the room will feel jarring making the occupants uncomfortable or feel that there is something wrong. Finding a table that best fits and uplifts a room should be given due consideration because there are numerous choices and one might not be equipped to make the proper choice. You have decided to buy a coffee table so the next step would be to choose the kind of material you prefer. Please note that one can use different materials in a room. The contemporary design is neither fully traditional nor causal. This style usually has straight, clean lines and edges. It has simpler curvature and limited carvings or decorative additions.
Do not forget to take note of additional functions you may want for your coffee table. Some prefer to have drawers or shelves in order to place magazines in. A function that some find very useful are lift tops, these they reveals additional storage space. Some coffee tables have game tops like chess or checkers. Whichever your decision, just ensure that proper planning was done to maximize its effect in the room.
Reasons to Decorate Your Home Elegantly
Are you looking for a motivation to decorate your home? Well, the fact alone that you’re surfing for ideas means that it is time to give your living space an upgrade. Having elegant and comfortable interior design can improve your well-being and enhance your life. Most people redesign their homes for the following reasons:
They Feel Like It – countless homeowners decide to give their home a fresh look “just because”. It is a normal and natural reaction. After all, people have an intimate bond with their living space since they sleep, eat, and “feel at home” there.
Just Moved In – the house you move into may be semi-furnished but for most people, this isn’t enough. They want to make the house feel like it’s really theirs whether it’s putting new wallpapers or buying elegant curtains. It is also exciting to mix and match various designs in a new house.
Make the Room Grow with you – people undergo different cycles in their life. The home décor that served them well a few years ago may not necessarily suit them today. If this is the case for you, it is time for an upgrade. Look into your current needs and make the changes to the interior design of your living space.
Dressing up Plain Couches
Not many can afford to go for an elaborate sofa with print, chintz, fringes, etc. While there are those who can afford and enjoy a perfectly or professionally decorated living area, many need to consider mundane matters such as children, budget, or temporary homes. A lovely home is not necessarily impossible; it is just more of a challenge. Thankfully, many welcome and enjoy challenges.
Let’s start with choosing couches. One normally chooses something comfortable. All the other features will just have to be secondary. Many people who are choosing their first sofa tend to go for a neutral color. Those with children would probably pick a dark shade in a material that can be simply wiped clean. Those who are renting, but hope to move a permanent home someday usually think it prudent to choose separates instead of a set, again starting with a sofa that will go with any wall or furniture.
A plain sofa can be jazzed up though. If you need to be conservative with the couch, you can then go crazy with cushions or pillows. Decorative pillows will certainly add splashes of color to an otherwise austere couch. You can also drape interestingly patterned throws or afghans on the backrest of the couch. If you think having pillows and throws looks cluttered, but still want color or print, you can use attractive covers instead. There’s really no reason for things to be plain and boring.
