Installing a Curtain Rod

Anybody can install a curtain rod. Most of the time, the job is relegated to the man of the house. In this case, women usually have to wait until their husbands have time or feel like doing it. Limiting their own capabilities, they sometimes resort to just hiring somebody to do the task. The fact is that women can learn to use power tools too. The operative word is “learn”, of course. Some of the basic tools necessary in installing a curtain rod are measuring tape, level, pencil, screw gun or drill with screw holders, drill bit, hammer, and screws or nails. Most of the time though, these are already included in the purchase of the rod. You still have to pay attention to sizes. Make sure you have the right-sized screws and screw holder extension tips. Once you have the materials at hand, you have to determine whether the rod attaches to the wall or to the window casing. After this, it’s time to do the measurements. Estimation does not come into this. Measure accurately and mark placements. Now, you can start drilling pilot holes into which you can screw the brackets or anchors which will then hold the rod. For big windows that require really long rods, a center bracket may be necessary.
