Decorating with Pillows

Throw pillows make great accents for any room. An attractive arrangement of them can transform a plain bed. In the living room, decorative pillows can make your sitting area look more interesting and appealing. In choosing accent pillows, the rule is usually not to partner print with another print, thus if you have a printed couch, plain pillows would be a safer choice. However, those with an eye for eclectic mixes can sometimes spot prints that mesh well without the overall effect of looking too busy.
One of the main considerations in picking out decorative pillows is color. It’s best if you set out to shop with a swatch of your couch or bedclothes material so you can put it against potential pillows and see if they go together. Anybody who has had the experience of matching outfits knows the importance of choosing the right shade. Of course, it’s not only the couch or the bed that the throw pillows should compliment; you also have to imagine the effect they will have on the entire room. Fabric is also key. Choose the correct one and you can add the suggestion of elegance to what used to be an inexpensive looking setup. You should also realize that in the case of choosing decorative pillows, size does matter. Small pillows will just flop or drown in one of those majestic beds or couches. Do not forget about the theme of the room either. The color, fabric, and size may be right, but if you put an avant-garde type pillow in a romantic cottage type room, it’s a pretty good bet that the result will be garish.
